Nottinghamshire paceman Charlie Shreck should finally make his State Shield debut for Wellington today when he squares off against Auckland at Eden Park's Outer Oval.
The 28-year-old Shreck has been using the New Zealand summer to test his body following an operation on his spine, and appears likely to open with James Franklin.
Wellington will be anxious to take maximum points against bottom-placed Auckland in order to strengthen their fourth position on the points ladder.
In other State Shield contests today, Canterbury will host Northern Districts at Hagley Oval, and Otago will host Central Districts at Dunedin's University Oval.
