The Otago-Central Districts State Shield cricket match scheduled for January 29 has been switched to Dunedin from Invercargill.
Fears the newly developed wicket at Queens Park was underdone prompted Southland cricket officials to give up the fixture.
Southland Cricket executive officer Richard Hoskin said he and groundsman Kevin Cooper were worried the Queens Park pitch, which was recently re-laid, would not have had time to prove itself.
The game will now be played at the University Oval in Dunedin.
