Fast bowler Simon Jones will be re-assessed by England at the weekend after a scan on his injured right knee showed up clear.
The Glamorgan paceman, who sustained the injury while warming up for the triangular series one-day victory over Bangladesh at The Oval, has not yet been ruled out of the game against Australia in Bristol.
Jones' injury is unrelated to the ruptured knee ligaments he suffered on the 2002-03 Ashes tour to Australia, England team spokesman Andrew Walpole said.
Australia also have injury concerns over express paceman Brett Lee.
Lee, who has a shoulder problem, is "very unlikely" to play in the game against Bangladesh in Cardiff or against England the following day, said team coach John Buchanan.
A scan showed no major damage and a specialist suggested the injury may have been a reaction to bruising on the shoulder after Lee was hit by a ball from Andrew Flintoff while batting in the Twenty20 match earlier this week.
