Canterbury left Central Districts red-faced yesterday with a crushing nine-wicket win in their one-day match in Christchurch.
While Canterbury rejoiced after their first win in five rounds, Central Districts had nothing to soften the blow of a heavy defeat.
They were dismissed for 67 in just 21.4 overs, their second-lowest one-day total.
Seven of the Central Districts batsmen failed to score.
The heavy cloud cover had dispersed by the time Canterbury chased their victory target and openers Michael Papps and Shanan Stewart relished their time in the middle.
With Central Districts' three-pronged medium-fast attack struggling to get the same bounce and movement as their Canterbury counterparts, Papps and Stewart reached their half-century partnership in 50 minutes off 77 balls.
After hitting three consecutive straight drives to the boundary off Brent Hefford, Stewart fell in the same over with the total at 56, but that was the only success for the visitors.
Earlier, Central Districts opener Jamie How was bowled by Chris Martin in the first over and his team never recovered. Stephen Cunis captured three for 19 off seven.
