Cricket: Quinton de Kock invites puns galore

It doesn't take much to get a rise out of Shane Warne, especially when it involves de Kock.

Quinton de Kock, that is, the South African wicket-keeper who's dominated the Aussies with the bat this summer, posting scores of 84, 64 and 104 in the first two Tests.

His foray to the crease in Adelaide on Thursday represented a rare failure, as he nicked off to Josh Hazlewood for 24 off 33 balls.

Earlier, he showed his intent to off-spinner Nathan Lyon, lofting him down the ground for a boundary and cue-ending an attempted slog sweep after the tweaker bowled one a bit slower and with a bit more air.

Channel 9 commentator Mark Nicholas tried to talk cricket, but Warnie's mind ventured elsewhere.

Now, no offence to the great man, but we think six exclamation marks is a bit much for what seems like a relatively tame line, especially considering what else could be said about a man with such a surname. Thankfully for us, plenty of cricket fans did consider how far into the gutter they could go at the 23-year-old's expense.

This actually sounds like a serious comparison between Hazlewood and McGrath, but you can't have "nut" and "de Kock" in the same sentence without having a bit of a chuckle.
