Indian Cricket League (ICL) players are lighter in the wallet with the rebel Twnenty20 league facing an uncertain future.
It comes amid talk the league is strapped for cash and willing to release players from contracts, allowing them to compete internationally again.
Former Black Cap Craig McMillan says there has been no official word from the ICL but they have not been paid since December and all the players are in the dark. He points out payments from India are usually late, but they have never been this far behind.
McMillan says they are owed a substantial amount of money and the players are awaiting the outcome of a meeting between ICL boss Himanshu Mody and board member Tony Greig in Sydney this week.
If the players are released it means the likes of Shane Bond and Daryl Tuffey would be eligible for New Zealand again.
