KEY POINTS:
New Zealand players may have been approached but have yet to sign to play in the month-long Indian Cricket League Twenty20 competition in October, the head of their association says.
Various reports suggested on Wednesday that Canterbury veteran Chris Harris would join players such as South Africa's Lance Klusener, West Indian Brian Lara and Pakistan's Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Yousuf in the breakaway competition.
Several other New Zealand players are thought to have been approached including Stephen Fleming, Shane Bond and former international stars Nathan Astle and Chris Cairns.
However, New Zealand Cricket Players' Association head, Heath Mills, told the Dominion Post on Thursday no players have signed yet out of fear it might end their international careers because the ICL is not sanctioned by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council.
Harris is playing league cricket for Bacup in northern England and could not be reached for comment, but Mills said reports of him signing were premature.
"I'd definitely know if Harry had signed," Mills said.
"The ICL have approached a number of our players, but I'm not aware of any who have signed."
