KEY POINTS:
Aaron Redmond and James Marshall made half-centuries but India A took a first innings lead over New Zealand A after day two of their four-day match at Chennai today (NZT).
Redmond made 51 in a 65-run partnership for the first wicket before BJ Watling was run out for 10.
Marshall, who also scored 51, featured in a 90-run partnership with captain Peter Fulton (37) to take the score to 174 for three after 62 overs, within striking distance of the hosts' 248.
But India took the upper hand after Fulton and Marshall were dismissed in the space of two overs.
Amit Mishra, who ran out Watling, took the wickets of Redmond and Greg Hay before fellow spinner Mohnish Parmar took over.
Parmar claimed three wickets and seamer Sudeep Tyagi helped wrap up the tail as New Zealand fell for 230 in 83 overs.
Trent Boult struck early in the second innings to dismiss Shikhar Dharwan and leave India on 27 for one at stumps, a lead of 45.
