Cricket: Nothern Districts secure victory in shield semi

Black Caps' spinner Daniel Vettori has led Northern Districts into the final of the State Shield.

Vettori smashed 138 to guide ND to a seven wicket win, passing Canterbury's 261 with 26 balls to spare at the Eden Park Outer Oval.

It was his second consecutive century as an opener, while James Marshall hit 95 not out.

Earlier Craig McMillan hit 124 for Canterbury.

Northern will meet Central Districts in Saturday's final in New Plymouth.
