SYDNEY - Shane Warne believes no one will catch Muttiah Muralitharan if he claims 1000 Test cricket wickets.
The former Australian legspinner congratulated Muralitharan today after he equalled his mark of 708 wickets in Tests during the first match of the series against England in Kandy.
Now Warne feels the Sri Lankan is "every chance" of getting to 1000 - a feat the Victorian believes will not be bettered.
"I congratulate Murali for equalling the record I had," Warne said.
"It was nice to have it for a short while but I knew I would only have it for a short time.
"Murali has said he wanted to take 1000 Test wickets and he is every chance of getting there.
"Although he will have to play for some time yet, if he does get there I don't think anyone else will catch him."
Muralitharan looked set to break Warne's record on the second day of the first Test against England, claiming 4-30 before rain brought a premature end to the day's play.
