Monty Panesar's international career is on the line as England seek an explanation for his behaviour outside a Brighton nightclub.
Panesar accepted a fixed-penalty notice from police after urinating on nightclub bouncers at 4am on Monday. The incident happened after the 31-year-old left-arm spinner was thrown out of the club after upsetting a group of women.
Panesar's county, Sussex, launched an investigation yesterday and will report to the England management who have become increasingly concerned in recent weeks by reports of his behaviour on and off the field.
After leaving the club, Panesar walked up to the promenade above the club and urinated through the railings on the bouncers below.
He ran off and the bouncers chased him, cornering him in a pizza fast food restaurant where he was heard shouting "help, help". He was taken back to the club and police were called. He agreed to pay a 90 ($175) on-the-spot fine.
