Hawkes Bay hammered Nelson by 159 runs yesterday to maintain their lead in the Central Districts region Hawke Cup qualifying series.
Hawkes Bay dominated the visitors in all departments - scoring 404 for seven declared on Saturday and being just as threatening with the ball yesterday.
A fine century from wicketkeeper-batsman Peter McGlashan laid the foundation.
He scored 150 from 143 balls, including 23 fours and a six, and shared big partnerships of 181 with Central Districts batsman David Kelly for the third wicket and 57 with skipper Craig Findlay for the fourth.
Kelly scored 78 and Findlay was 54 not out.
Nelson, with a target of 240 from 65 overs after Hawkes Bay forfeited their second innings, were dismissed for just 80.
Central left-armer Lance Hamilton spearheaded the home pace attack with five for 23 from 11.4 overs to destroy the Nelson second innings.
Fellow paceman Roger Fouhy took three for 42 in the first innings and Findlay also featured with the ball, taking two for nine in the first and three for 10 in the second.
