Northern Districts outplayed Auckland in the third round of Cricket Max and closed to within two points with two matches remaining in the series, at Te Awamutu tomorrow and Whakatane on Thursday.
ND needed 130 to win and reached the target with nine balls remaining.
Auckland reached 154-5 in their second innings, but could not stave off Northern Districts.
Auckland won the opening two games in the best-of-five series.
