Pakistan cricket chiefs have banned allrounder Shoaib Malik for one test and fined him 75 per cent of his next two international match fees for throwing a domestic game.
The 23-year-old, leading his home-town Sialkot team, admitted throwing the Twenty20 tournament match against the Karachi Zebras on Thursday in protest after his team was penalised for a slow over rate in another match.
The decision by the Pakistan Cricket Board means he will miss the first test of his country's upcoming tour of the West Indies later this month.
"What he did was bad for Pakistan cricket," a PCB spokesman said. "He was also severely reprimanded, as were the Sialkot team management and the coach."
