West Indies captain Brian Lara, who became the fastest player to reach 9000 runs in test cricket against South Africa this week, has reclaimed top spot in the test ratings.
Lara, who struck a double century, a century and two 50s in the first three tests against South Africa, dislodges Australia's Ricky Ponting at the head of the PricewaterhouseCoopers standings.
Ponting slips to second, with India's Rahul Dravid and another Australian, Matthew Hayden, in third and fourth place respectively.
New Zealand opener Mark Richardson climbs back into the top 10, in ninth place.
Fellow Black Cap Daryl Tuffey is eighth in the bowling list, still led by Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan from Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar.
