The Indians have been fined 35 per cent of their match fee from the first test at the Basin Reserve for slow over rates.
Match referee Mike Procter, of South Africa, said the fine related to the Wellington test because the tourists were six overs short of the required rate.
With 90 overs required to be bowled each day of a test, weather permitting, teams are required to bowl 15 overs an hour.
Procter decided against enforcing any more fines for the just-completed second test because of the abbreviated nature of the match.
He said the regulations for the over rates applied only when more than 50 overs were bowled in an innings.
The second test lasted just 176.5 overs as New Zealand won by four wickets.
The home side's second innings was the only one of the four to go beyond 50 overs in one of the most bizarre tests on record..
