India lost two wickets in the opening session Saturday, including opener Shikhar Dhawan under controversial circumstances, as the visitors began a final-day chase of 364 runs for victory in the first test against Australia.
India was 105-2 at lunch, needing 259 more runs, with Murali Vijay 47 not out and Virat Kohli unbeaten on 25.
Dhawan was caught by wicketkeeper Brad Haddin when umpire Ian Gould ruled the ball had deflected off the batsman's glove. But replays showed it hit his shoulder and he should not have been dismissed.
The video-based Decision Review System is not being used in the four-test series because India did not agree to use it, saying it was not always accurate.
Cheteshwar Pujara was the other batsman out, caught by Haddin of spinner Nathan Lyon's bowling.
