KEY POINTS:
Former New Zealand allrounder Chris Harris appears poised to join the lucrative rebel Twenty/20 cricket league in India.
The Press reported today Harris, 37, had declined to sign a contract for this season with Canterbury.
Harris, who is playing one-day league cricket in England, told Canterbury coach Dave Nosworthy of his decision two nights ago.
Harris could not be contacted for comment yesterday.
The breakaway league is attracting predominantly former international players for the Twenty20 competition during October and November.
West Indies' Brian Lara, South Africa's Lance Klusener and Pakistan's Inzaman ul-Haq announced recently they would play in the league.
Sums of $575,000 for players of star quality, down to $275,000 for those of provincial class, are believed to be on offer by an Indian television broadcaster.
Recently retired international Nathan Astle has also declined a Canterbury contract.
All-rounder Chris Cairns and fast bowler Shane Bond, along with New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming, who is playing in England, are also said to be on the Indian company's shopping list.
