KEY POINTS:
New Zealand's greatest cricketer, Sir Richard Hadlee, is stepping down from the national selection panel.
Hadlee's eight-year term on the panel ends in July and he will not reapply for the position.
New Zealand Cricket has a rotation system for its four-member selection panel. Two of the quartet have to reapply each year to ensure a robust process and a mix of experience and new faces.
Hadlee's last job will be helping select the squad to tour England next month and he will be there during the three-test, five-ODI trip.
"I've had 36 years on the grounds as a player, commentator and selector and I just feel it's time to move on and take a step back," he said last night.
Hadlee retired in 1990 with a world record 431 test wickets from 86 matches, the sixth-highest haul in history.
