WELLINGTON - New Zealand cricketing hero Sir Richard Hadlee may take up a selection role with New Zealand Cricket.
Selection duties are among several options NZC is to discuss with the former world test wicket record-holder.
Hadlee was off the commentating scene last summer when a change of sponsor made his television position redundant.
He said he could not comment on whether he might be in line to be a selector because he had not discussed it with NZC.
"NZC has said it would like to keep me involved in some way in the game and selection is one aspect of that," he said. "But I have not made any decision because we have not talked about it."
NZC chief executive Christopher Doig said: "Richard is a talent we can't afford to waste and I will be chatting to him soon."t
But expanding the selection panel from three to four had not been designed with anyone in mind, Doig said.
There would be a range of matters to discuss about Hadlee's potential involvement.
"We may have him involved in the Development team tour to India," Doig said. "He knows the country well, is well respected there and could help the team."
