Mark Gillespie's long awaited return from injury has been delayed once more.
It was hoped the former Black Caps pace bowler would play some part in Wellington's HRV Cup campaign but he's only just returned to training after serious back and hip injuries.
Wellington coach Anthony Stuart says the signs look positive for Gillespie.
Stuart says the physios predict he may be available for the first round of the fifty over competition.
He says English all-rounder Luke Wright is on the mend from an infected leg and could return to their line-up for Sunday's HRV Cup match against Auckland, but only as a batsman.
In today's match, Canterbury are scheduled to face Northern Districts in Hamilton, however rain is forecast for the Waikato this afternoon.
