Classy allrounder Dwayne Bravo will lead the West Indies during the limited overs leg of their New Zealand tour.
But champion opener Chris Gayle will not be coming.
Gayle injured a hamstring on the West Indies tour of India last month and has not recovered, while big-hitting allrounder Kieron Pollard is also missing due to having treatment on knee injury.
Gayle's absence will be a blow for the tourists and for New Zealand Cricket, who will have seen the tall Jamaican as a crowd puller.
Nine of the test squad will stay on for the five ODIs, starting at Eden Park on Boxing Day - including test captain Darren Sammy, key batsmen Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels, and clever spinner Sunil Narine, while a fresh squad for the two T20s which conclude the tour will be named closer to the time.
