MANCHESTER - England fought back to beat India by three wickets at Old Trafford today and take a 3-1 lead after the fourth one-day cricket international in their seven-match series.
After restricting India to 212 in 49.4 overs, England overcame a faltering start in response, including the runout of captain Paul Collingwood for 47, to score 213 for seven and claim a thrilling win.
Stuart Broad, 21 and a son of former test player Chris, was the England hero, taking four for 51 with the ball before scoring a composed 45 to steady the innings after coming in at 114 for seven.
Sachin Tendulkar hit 55 from 86 balls and Yuvraj Singh 71 from 104 in India's innings, but it was not enough as Broad combined with Ravi Bopara, who made 43 not out, to carry England to victory with a record eighth-wicket partnership of 99.
