The end of the season is but one more erroneous Duckworth-Lewis calculation away. Here are three things to see before stumps are pulled at Eden Park.
1. Let them loose
There are two blokes in the team who can push the needle close to 150km/h. Give Lockie Ferguson and AdamMilne the new ball and let them loose for the first four overs. Watch them rattle some cages. True, it could cost 45 runs but it'll be helluva show.
Nobody is going to prise the new ball out of Tim Southee's hands so you're going to have to sit this one out, sorry skipper.
The first order of business for Guptill is to drop himself to No 6 in the order.
We don't need to see him bat again to know what a dangerous T20 machine he is, nor Devon Conway for that matter. He's good; a seventh plus-50 score of the white-ball summer can't boost his profile any more than the previous six have.
Let's have a look at some of the more fringe T20 talent and let them bat without so much time pressure.
Proposed lineup: Finn Allen, Will Young, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Guptill, Conway, the rest.
The Black Caps are ending their "summer" at a rugby ground while deep into rugby season – and on a Thursday night that Aucklanders traditionally spend either stuck on the Southern Motorway or stocking up on booze to get them through Good Friday.
You never know though. Eden Park is, according to one "study", the most popular cricket ground in the world.
