HERALD PROMOTION
Triumphant New Zealand women's cricket captain Emily Drumm has joined the judging panel for the New Zealand Herald junior sports awards.
After leading the White Ferns to their epic World Cup victory in Christchurch, Drumm accepted the invitation to join the panel, which each year acknowledges many young sportsmen and women.
Drumm, a former award winner, replaces Olympic swimming medallist Paul Kingsman, who has gone to the United States to further his coaching career.
She joins 1952 Olympic long jump gold medallist Yvette Corlett (nee Williams), former hockey international David Appleby, and Terry Maddaford, from the Herald's sports staff, on the judging panel.
Applications for the 2000 awards close on Sunday.
The five winners, who receive $1000 training grants and an engraved medallion, will be announced in the New Year.
