BANGALORE - New Zealand claimed three late wickets on the second morning after Indian state champions Karnataka had made a solid start in their first innings in the three-day tour cricket match here yesterday.
Karnataka lost three wickets for 11 runs in the last 10 minutes of the morning session to go to lunch on 74 for three.
They had been progressing nicely to reach 63 without loss after New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming declared his team's first innings closed on their overnight score of 249 for six.
Otago offspinner Paul Wiseman broke the opening partnership when he got a ball to nip back sharply and trap Jagadish Arunkumar leg before wicket for 31.
Seamer Chris Drum then chimed in with two wickets. He had Sujith Somasunder caught behind for 18 and, with the last scheduled ball of the session, he bowled Ananthram Vijay for one.
Somasunder, who has played one-day internationals for India, and Arunkumar had started brightly, scoring at more than four runs an over in the opening six overs.
Arunkumar was the more aggressive of the two and hit five boundaries. - NZPA
