Central Districts cricket coach Dermot Reeve has been censured and fined for his remarks, which alleged ball-tampering by Auckland import Ravi Bopara.
In a hearing this week, commissioner Roger Mori determined that Reeves comments constituted a breach of the Code of Conduct.
The commissioner noted that Reeves actions were not malicious and were motivated by a desire to prevent ball-tampering in future cricket matches.
However, his action in involving the news media has been judged to be misguided and inappropriate.
As a result Reeve has been censured and fined 750 dollars.
