Australian stand-in test captain Michael Clarke has resigned as skipper of the Twenty20 side following Australia's 3-1 Ashes series loss to England.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Clarke, who averaged just 21.44 in the Ashes defeat, plans to quit the shortest form of the game to concentrate on test cricket.
Clarke captained Australia to the final of the World Twenty20 tournament in the West Indies last year, where they were beaten by England.
England wrapped up a 3-1 series victory after defeating Australia by an innings and 83 runs in the fifth test today.
