Hugh Henderson has been appointed chief executive of the Central Districts Cricket Association, succeeding Blair Furlong, who will retire on May 31.
Association chairman John Fluker said Henderson had excellent commercial and management credentials and came into the game with a real passion for cricket and its opportunities.
Henderson is commercial operations manager at the NZRU.
"I have always had a genuine love of cricket," he said.
