Canterbury will host South Africa in a Twenty20 match on February 15 at the Hagley Oval in the only international match to be played in the city this summer.
Tickets went on sale today (Monday), with 2000 available for the one-off match to be played as a warm-up before South Africa meet New Zealand.
Canterbury Cricket chief executive Lee Germon said: "I urge all cricket lovers to act quickly to guarantee a ticket to the match. With a public capacity of only 2000 we are expecting the tickets to sell very quickly for what will be the only chance for Canterbury people to see the mighty South African side in action in our city."
The match will also serve as an opportunity to commemorate the February earthquake one year on with both teams wearing specially designed playing shirts and a minute silence to be observed before the match.
