Canterbury continued their perfect start to the women's Twenty20 domestic cricket competition with an eight-wicket defeat of Central Districts in Christchurch yesterday.
The home side made it three wins out of three and their victory over second-placed Central with 2.3 overs remaining leaves them in a strong position to win the inaugural title with two games remaining.
Chasing 125, Canty opener Michelle Mitchell blasted 59 off 40 balls, including 10 fours as she and Haidee Tiffen tallied an opening stand of 105 inside 13 overs.
Tiffen stayed to the end, reaching 49 off 49 balls. Earlier Aimee Mason and Rachel Priest scored 48 and 40 respectively for Central.
