KEY POINTS:
Canterbury Cricket has appointed Australian Shane Jurgensen as its high performance coach.
He will relocate from Queensland where he has been that state's director and head coach of high performance.
Jurgensen, who will begin his new job on November 17, ended his playing career in 2007 after playing for three Australian states at first-class level.
He has most recently been involved with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) assisting with the New Zealand A and New Zealand Emerging Players sides during their tours to Australia.
His role as high performance coach is fully funded by NZC.
Jurgensen's main areas of responsibility will be with elite under-17 and under-19 players who are on the fringe of the Canterbury senior squad while also assisting coach Bob Carter with that squad.
