Cricket: Cachopa hits ton for NZ A

New Zealand A are heading for an intriguing final day in their four-day game against Sri Lanka in Pallekele today.

The tourists trail Sri Lanka A by 88 runs overall, with the hosts 135 for three in their second innings.

The highlight of the day for NZ A was a century by opener Carl Cachopa.

The Central Districts batsman hit 104 off 163 balls to be the key provider in NZ A's first innings 299 for nine declared.

There were several other handy contributions, including a run-a-ball 47 from Luke Ronchi and 41 from Daryl Mitchell.

Offspinner Dilruwan Perera took six for 87 for Sri Lanka A.

The hosts rattled up 135 for three from only 19 overs late in the day, with opener Kusal Perera hitting a rapid, unbeaten 62.
