Head groundsman Trevor Jackson is expecting the Basin Reserve pitch to last the distance as he prepares for the test between New Zealand and Zimbabwe which begins tomorrow.
Jackson says he is keeping a close eye on the weather, with showers expected before the test gets underway.
He says there should not be too much deterioration over the five days but is expecting it to favour the spinners.
He says much depends on the overhead conditions, but the strong northerlies forecast for the first couple of days may dry out the pitch substantially.
