MELBOURNE - Australia bowled South Africa out for 181 to win the second test by 184 runs on the fifth and final day today.
Set 366 to win, South Africa were never realistically in the hunt after they were reduced to 99 for six at stumps on Thursday, though some dogged resistance from Shaun Pollock ensured the match lasted into the second session.
Pollock ended on 67 not out while Makhaya Ntini was the last man out when he was bowled by Stuart MacGill for two in the first over after lunch.
Shane Warne ended with four for 74, while pace bowler Glenn McGrath had figures of three for 44.
