Coach Paul Strang is optimistic Auckland's top order can lead them to victory over Canterbury in the major preliminary final of the men's domestic one-day cricket championship in Christchurch on Sunday.
The winner of the match advances to the final on February 13 while the loser has a second chance against he winner of Otago v Northern Districts.
A century to former international Lou Vincent helped steer Auckland to a six-wicket win over Canterbury in the third round and Strang believes that result could give his side an edge.
"It's always an extra challenge playing away from home so when you do it's good to have the knowledge in your memory bank that you've been there and won before," he said.
"Our batting has been a real strong point and it's a great thing to have because it can either create pressure with a big total on the board or give you the confidence to chase down any score. Canterbury have some fire power of their own in that regard though so it will be a good contest."
