Fast bowler Shane Bond has once again wreaked havoc on the visiting Sri Lankans.
Sri Lanka were 125 for eight in their second innings at stumps on day two of the first cricket test against New Zealand at Jade Stadium today, an overall lead of 73 with two wickets in hand.
Kumar Sangakkara was not out on 63 and Lasith Malinga yet to score at the close.
Shane Bond was the chief destroyer effecting two run outs and taking four for 38 off 12 overs.
Earlier, New Zealand were all out for 206 in reply to Sri Lanka's first innings of 154.
Resuming at 85 for two, the Black Caps lost four wickets for seven at one stage before Stephen Fleming (48) and Daniel Vettori (63) enabled the hosts to hold a slender 52-run advantage.
Muttiah Muralitharan took four for 65 off 37 overs but was denied a 57th five-wicket bag when top scorer Vettori was caught at point by Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene off pace bowler Lasith Malinga to end the New Zealand innings.
Tailender Chris Martin was not out 0.
An early tea was taken with Sri Lanka starting their second innings after the break.
