Blackcaps v England: Day Three preview of the pink ball test at Eden Park

After Kane Williamson's record-breaking 18th test century for New Zealand, the Blackcaps will try to increase their lead over England today.

The Blackcaps finished the second day on 229/4, 171 runs ahead of England who was bowled out for 58 in their first innings.

As the players left the field for their dinner break yesterday, the rain started to fall and the umpires decided to call it a day at 9pm.

Play at Eden Park is set to resume today at 1.30pm, weather permitting with Metservice predicting occasional showers throughout the day for Auckland.

Metserive has also issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the western parts of the region this afternoon.

The match is the first Test between New Zealand and England, it is also the first time the pink ball has been used in New Zealand.

Should play continue this afternoon, Henry Nicolls will start on 49 and wicketkeeper-batsman, BJ Watling on 17.

With more rain forecast, who knows how many overs we will see on Day 3. Play is scheduled to start thirty minutes earlier (00:30 UK time) with New Zealand resuming on 229/4: Nicholls 49*, Watling 17*. New Zealand lead by 171 runs #NZvENG
