The Black Caps were looking comfortable at 3-140 with Martin Guptill digging in to chase down Australia's 324 in the first Chappell-Hadlee ODI in Sydney last night.
That was before Aussie hero Steve Smith pulled off one of the catches of the year to dismiss BJ Watling.
A short and wide delivery by Mitchell Marsh had BJ Watling cutting the ball off his back foot, with a shot that looked destined for the boundary.
But the Australian captain backed up his man-of-the-match batting performance, where he scored 164 off 157 balls, by acrobatically diving away to his left, snaring the ball with one hand and hitting the turf face first.
It was a key moment for the Aussies who suddenly took away the Black Caps breathing room.
