The Chappell-Hadlee Trophy will retain its integrity as a stand-alone event and not be folded into any other one-day competitions.
There has been speculation the crowded schedule next summer for the Black Caps and Australia may force organisers to blend the three-match Chappell-Hadlee series into the VB series.
However, Cricket Australia has quashed that idea.
A Cricket Australia spokesman says the Chappell-Hadlee is a stand alone event which is important to them and they are keen to continue with its development.
Next summer the Chappell-Hadlee and the VB Series are book-ended by the ICC Champions Trophy in India in November and the World Cup in the Caribbean in March 2007.
In addition to the five-Test Ashes series next summer, Australia is committed to the VB Series of up to 11 ODIs.
