KEY POINTS:
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has launched an international search for its new national coach.
Chief executive Justin Vaughan today called for applications for the role, nine months before incumbent John Bracewell is contracted to finish.
He said in a statement that he wanted to hear from "suitably qualified candidates from throughout the world".
"We are looking for candidates who have the experience and drive to both improve the Black Caps in both forms of the game," Vaughan said.
"We have a very good core group of players and the new coach should be looking to develop a side that will regularly win world events in the one-day arena as well as improving their test performances.
"We need a coach who will build on the current solid foundation and take it to the next level."
Bracewell announced last week that when he finishes as New Zealand coach he will return for a second stint in charge at English county Gloucestershire.
Applications for the New Zealand job close on August 4.
