Lou Vincent has been recalled to the New Zealand test cricket team to tour South Africa next month.
Vincent, who has had an on-again, off-again test career, replaces Peter Fulton who has injured his right knee.
New Zealand Cricket said today Fulton needed surgery to repair the injury and it was hoped he would be available for the Chappell-Hadlee Series in Australia in December.
With Craig Cumming and Michael Papps the anticipated openers for the New Zealand team, Vincent is likely to go head-to-head with Ross Taylor for a spot in the middle order.
