Daniel Vettori's planned return to cricket after his hamstring injury could be curtailed by the weather.
The former New Zealand captain injured his hamstring on the eve of the second test against Australia in Hobart earlier this month.
He was today named in the Northern Districts squad to take on Canterbury in an HRV Cup match in Mt Maunganui tomorrow but prospects for the match look bleak as rain and strong winds buffet the country.
Northern have named a strong side with nine past or present Black Caps in their 12-man squad.
ND squad to play Canterbury: Scott Styris (c), Graeme Aldridge, Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Anton Devcich, Hamish Marshall, Peter McGlashan, Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson, Brad Wilson.
