Spinner Daniel Vettori has said a recent back injury might have been a blessing in disguise as it gave him a chance to recuperate and prepare for playing with the Black Caps.
The New Zealand team heads to India this weekend for the Champions Trophy.
The competition will be the first proper cricket Vettori has played after coming home from his county cricket club Warwickshire in June with a stress fracture in his lower back.
Vettori said the injury forced him to have a much needed rest rather than playing a full season in England.
He said he was now 100 per cent and that the time off had done him the world of good.
