New Zealand allrounder Dan Vettori will be out of action for the next few weeks but should be ready for next month's visit of Zimbabwe.
Vettori was ruled out of the second test against Australia after suffering a recurrence of a left hamstring injury before the start of play yesterday (Fri).
After scans on the hamstring, an injury which has been problematic for Vettori over the last few years, New Zealand Cricket today announced the former Black Caps captain will play no cricket until the new year.
"We expect him to be rehabbing the injury and back to full fitness within three to four weeks," Black Caps physiotherapist Paul Close said. "We are confident he will be back to play some HRV Cup cricket at some stage in the New Year."
After the test in Hobart wraps up, New Zealand have a six-week break before the home test series against Zimbabwe gets underway, giving Vettori ample time to recover from the injury.
