Dan Vettori will make his return to the national cricket scene when a New Zealand XI plays Scotland at Lincoln on Wednesday.
Former captain Vettori, 35, last appeared for New Zealand at the Champions Trophy in June last year against England in Cardiff. Injuery problems have sidelined him for much of the intervening period.
He has been named in a 12 for the game against the World Cup qualifiers, who are in the country for preparatory games in the next few days.
Brendon McCullum will captain the side, which also includes recently relocated Northern Districts batsman Dean Brownlie, who last played for New Zealand in a test against England at Leeds in May last year.
The New Zealand XI will play another 50-over cup warmup against Ireland in Hamilton on Saturday.
