KEY POINTS:
New Zealand cricket captain Daniel Vettori is in doubt for the Twenty20 matches against England after rolling an ankle yesterday.
Vettori has been ruled out of this weekend's domestic Twenty20 final after injuring himself in a Northern Districts training session.
Northern Districts coach Andy Moles thought Vettori could be out of action for 10 days.
He was to be assessed by New Zealand team medical staff to learn the full extent of the injury.
New Zealand play the first of two Twenty20 matches against the tourists in Auckland on Tuesday.
The second match is in Christchurch two days later, while the five-match one-day series starts in Wellington on Saturday week.
Vettori suffered the injury while the squad for Sunday's final against Central Districts were warming down by playing a game of "head tennis", Moles said.
The game involves heading a soccer ball over a net.
"It was an unfortunate accident, he jumped to head the ball and landed on a teammate," Moles said.
Should Vettori be unavailable for the early stages of the England tour vice-captain Brendon McCullum would probably take over the reins.
