KEY POINTS:
The South Perth Cricket Club presented Black Caps captain Daniel Vettori with the original Black Cap during yesterday's game against the Cricket Australia Chairman's XI at Lilac Hill, near Perth.
The cap was awarded posthumously to Frederick Theodore (Ted) Badcock, who played in New Zealand's first test match against England in 1930.
After a first-class playing career with New Zealand, Wellington and Otago, Badcock moved to Perth.
He joined South Perth as a player, coach and committee member, and later life member, and coached the Western Australia team. His cricket memorabilia was donated to the club when he passed away in 1982.
"South Perth received the cap on Mr Badcock's behalf in 2000, when New Zealand Cricket honoured all test Black Caps with replica caps to honour their achievement," New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justin Vaughan said.
"New Zealand Cricket is extremely honoured to receive the cap, and we thank South Perth for the offer and presentation."
The cap will be loaned to the New Zealand Cricket Museum in Wellington for display.
