The first cricket test between New Zealand and South Africa ended in a draw today as the hosts reached 39-1 in their second innings at stumps.
South Africa declared their second innings at 313-4 just after the tea break in Hamilton, leaving New Zealand a lofty target of 264 to win in a minimum of 23 overs.
New Zealand made no attempt to chase the target, and lost the wicket of Michael Papps for 12, caught behind off the bowling of Andre Nel, with Brendon McCullum unbeaten on 19 and Scott Styris on three when play as called off 30 minutes early.
Earlier, South Africa's Jacques Kallis notched 150 not out for his fifth century from his last eight test innings.
He also became only the second player behind Australian great Sir Donald Bradman to score centuries in five consecutive tests.
The second match in the three-test series starts in Auckland on Thursday.
