Taylor shared a 265-run partnership with Williamson, a record for New Zealand's highest Test stand against Australia.
Earlier in the day, Kane Williamson's 12th test hundred at the Waca moved him a step closer to overtaking Martin Crowe as New Zealand's greatest centurymaker.
Williamson completed his second ton in the series against Australia with a cut backward of point from Mitchell Johnson. It had taken 158 balls and included 16 fours.
On 90 he whistled a cover drive off Mitchell Johnson just wide of Nathan Lyon at short cover, but otherwise he was relatively untroubled to move to his century. It was full of lavish drives and strokes through the onside and behind point, but built on a solid defensive structure.
He had to put up with a 17-minute delay early in the day when the power to the sightscreen failed. Mitchell Starc wanted to come around the wicket to Williamson, who requested the screen be moved. When it wouldn't the New Zealander rightly stood his ground.
Crowe sits atop the list with 17 centuries and Ross Taylor is on 12, along with Williamson and John Wright.
Williamson, 25, has spread his centuries around the globe, from India, to the United Arab Emirates to England and Australia, as well as at home.
The only ground on which he's scored more than one is the Basin Reserve, where he hit 102 not out to save a test against South Africa three year ago, and 242 not out to help beat Sri Lanka last season.
Crowe anointed Williamson last summer as the batsman who would overtake his records in time. That time may come sooner than may have been thought.
Today was his fifth century in his last 12 test innings.
Williamson is up to No 5 in the test batting rankings and has been the subject of the highest praise from Australians including in-form opponent David Warner and former great Allan Border, who nominated him as the batsman to play for his life.
